Have we lost the Art of Saving

“A penny saved is a penny earned.” Benjamin
Franklin, who coined this phrase, must be turning in
his grave now, as the personal savings rate in both
the US and Canada is hovering around zero. Is the
dismal North American savings rate a cause for
concern or is it only a statistical mirage?
